# Karaoke Breath Alcohol Gauges Microphone Breathalyzer Keeps Drunk Singers Off Streets By Vivian Lau | Published 2012-05-24 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/microphone-breathalyzer References: [fastcocreate](http://www.fastcocreate.com/1680839/karaoke-breathalyzer-stops-drunk-driving-while-enabling-your-journey) & [youtube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=yU-q6kUFKFU) In many cases, the ones who are on stage at a [karaoke bar](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mykaraoke-video) are already a couple pints deep, which is why, in an effort to stop patrons from drinking and driving, Bar Aurora and Bateco Ferraz combined forces to bring bar-goers the microphone breathalyzer. In an awareness campaign for the product put together by Ogilvy Brazil, unsuspecting drunkards are shown belting out classic, feel-good tunes, only to be scored not by their tone (because really, how is it fair to judge anybody's singing voice at a bar?) but by a [blood alcohol content percentage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bac-calculator-by-bacdrunk). Singers who have exceeded the legal limit are reminded that they may not get behind the wheel. The microphone breathalyzer is a discreet and practical way to give those who have had a few too many drinks a public wake up call to not get drunk and drive. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Microphone Breathalyzers:** The trend of integrating breathalyzer technology into microphones provides a discreet and practical approach to preventing drunk driving. - **Awareness Campaigns:** The trend of utilizing creative campaigns to raise awareness about drunk driving encourages responsible behavior. - **Integrated Alcohol Detection:** The trend of integrating alcohol detection systems into everyday objects like microphones promotes safety and responsible drinking habits. ### Where This Applies - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry has an opportunity to incorporate microphone breathalyzers into karaoke bars and other venues to promote responsible alcohol consumption. - **Advertising:** The advertising industry can provide innovative marketing strategies and campaigns for companies producing microphone breathalyzers to raise awareness about drunk driving. - **Public Safety:** The public safety industry can benefit from the integration of alcohol detection technology into various devices to prevent drunk driving incidents and protect individuals. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Germ-Killing Karaoke Pop-Ups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airaoke.md) - [Alcohol-Monitoring Bracelets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alcoholmonitoring-bracelet.md) - [Drunk Driving Detection Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drunk-driving-detection.md) - [AI-Powered Karaoke Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mayk.md) - [Karaoke-Ready Soundbars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vizio-micme-soundbar.md) - [Workplace-Focused Alcohol Breathalyzers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alcohol-breathalyzers.md) - [Virus-Detecting Breathalyzers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/virusdetecting-breathalyzer.md) - [Connected Runner Breath Analyzers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wearable-breath-analyzer.md) - [Immersive Karaoke-Enabled Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soundcore.md)
