While the works seem to be simultaneously realistic and out of this world, the artist explains that during his artistic process, he does not work from photographs, rather a collection of images. As he explains on his website, "I then use this structural understanding to create [imagined worlds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unbounded-sanctuary) where these forms can do whatever I want them to, and it all looks believable, or almost believable." By piecing together his own landscapes from real world imagery, the artist manages to create [stunningly surreal scenes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illusion-box). Through his artwork, Michael Schall displays his imaginative renderings of a slightly alienesque world that eerily parallels our own. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.5/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Imaginative Renderings:** Artists can explore creating imaginative renderings of existing landscapes using their own interpretation and artistic style. - **Surreal Scenery:** Artists can push the boundaries of reality by creating surreal scenery that blurs the line between fantasy and reality. - **Intricate Detailing:** Artists can focus on intricate detailing to create visually stunning and mesmerizing artworks that captivate the audience. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art & Design:** Artists can leverage their creativity to disrupt the art and design industry by showcasing unique and imaginative renderings in their artworks. - **Entertainment & Media:** Artists can offer their surreal scenery artworks to the entertainment and media industry as a source of inspiration for movies, video games, and other visual media. - **Home Decor:** Artists can tap into the home decor industry by creating intricately detailed artworks that can be used as wall decorations, adding a touch of surrealism to living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Physics-Informed Digital Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motion-sculpture.md) - [Realistic Sketch-Reflective Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drawing-series.md) - [Dynamic Mathematically Shaped Surfaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mathematically-shaped.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md)
