First of all, it jumps right out at a viewer thanks to its [cartoonish angles and stacked design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/b2a-architects). It looks as though it's made out of four separate components when in reality Michael Kovac created a single cohesive space. Located in Santa Monica, California, Michael Kovac's house is a luxury home that carries a [nautical and tropical aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inland-lane-residence) from the outside to the inside and back outside again. Although the interior of the home is impressive, the fact that it comes with a [fully-loaded cabana in the backyard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-cool) makes it a must-see property. Residents will feel as though they are on a constant vacation in this house, especially in sunny Cali. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Cartoonish Architecture:** An opportunity for architects and builders to create more playful and unique structures that stand out in a crowded market - **Multi-functional Luxury Homes:** A trend for luxury home builders to create unique and fully-loaded living spaces with added amenities like cabanas and outdoor spaces - **Nautical and Tropical Aesthetics:** A growing demand for homes with a blend of nautical and tropical aesthetics that promote a relaxed and vacation-like atmosphere ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture and Design:** An opportunity for architects and designers to create fresh, playful, and unique structures and interiors with cartoonish angles and stacked design - **Real Estate:** A trend for real estate professionals to focus on and market luxury homes with unique and fully-loaded living spaces with added amenities like cabanas and outdoor spaces that promote a nautical and tropical atmosphere - **Furniture and Decor:** An opportunity for furniture and decor companies to create a line of nautical and tropical-inspired pieces, including those that bring in the stacked and cartoonish design elements ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Juxtaposing South Californian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emerald-bay.md) - [Mid-Century-Themed Vacation Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bohlin-cywinski-jackson.md) - [Off-Grid Oceanside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/campos-studio.md) - [Mountaintop Cantilevered Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/levitae-house.md) - [Unique American-Designed Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ray-kappe.md) - [Elevated Coastal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monterey-home.md) - [Organic Coastal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diachok-architects.md) - [Stepped Hillside Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/b2a-architects.md) - [Hollywood Regency Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cordell-drive.md)
