# Trailer Collages This 'Self-Contained' Sculpture by Michael Johanssons is Tetris-Esque By Allison Love | Published 2010-07-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/michael-johanssons References: [belowtheclouds](http://www.belowtheclouds.com/2010/06/28/tetris-skulptur/) & [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/32001/) Michael Johanssons' 'Self-Contained' sculpture is pretty fascinating, taking [random items](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1) (like a car) and stacking them Tetris-styles into a box. I really like the look of this sculpture; it's not only massive, but also uses some rather intriguing items to create its contents. A trailer, for instance, is flipped vertically to fit in between the [shipping containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harbor-051). Michael Johanssons' sculpture sits in front of a house -- I'm assuming his house -- for extra support. I think this would be a pretty hilarious sight to behold in person! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Upcycling Sculptures:** Artists are creating sculptures using discarded objects and are gaining recognition for their innovative creations. - **Tetris-style Stacking:** Artists are now using the Tetris-style of stacking objects to create impressive sculptures. - **Self-contained Art:** Artists are exploring the idea of creating 'Self-Contained' pieces that are all-inclusive. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art:** The art industry can use this trend to incorporate creative 3D designs. - **Sculpture:** The sculpture industry could benefit from incorporating innovative construction methods. - **Waste Management:** The waste management industry could benefit from upcycling on waste products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Whimsical Sculptural Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/city-block-series.md) - [Dynamic Moving-Illusion Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moving-furniture.md) - [Dynamic Sculptural Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table.md) - [Masterfully Modular Camping Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-camping-trailer.md) - [Storage Box-Transformed Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunks-and-blocks.md) - [Recycled Bar Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bar-installation.md) - [Compact Furniture Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boxed-collection.md) - [Harbor-Inspired Storage Trolleys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harbor-051.md) - [Playful Storage Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berto-hidden-secrets.md)
