Not only is it quite stunning to look at, its [simple design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stilo75-pen-holder) is also highly functional. Michael Cornelissen created these [colored pencil bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuff-pencil-cabinet) using a 3D printed laser-sintered polyamide center that holds the pencils together. The best thing about this design is the fact that you can easily pluck out a pencil if you need to jot something down. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Colored Pencil Art:** The trend towards using colored pencils as an artistic medium opens up opportunities for innovative products and designs. - **3D Printing:** The growth of 3D printing technology provides a disruptive innovation opportunity for creating unique and functional objects like Michael Cornelissen's colored pencil bowls. - **Functional Design:** The focus on simple and practical design in products like Michael Cornelissen's bowl highlights the demand for functional and aesthetically pleasing items. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art Supplies:** The introduction of colored pencil bowls could revolutionize the art supplies industry by offering artists a new and creative tool to work with. - **3D Printing:** The application of 3D printing in the creation of unique objects like colored pencil bowls opens up opportunities for growth and innovation within the 3D printing industry. - **Home Decor:** The brightly colored and functional design of the colored pencil bowls can be a disruptive innovation in the home decor industry, adding a unique and artistic touch to interior design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Colored Glass Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tip-top-glass.md) - [3D-Printed Colorful Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olivier-van-herpt-1.md) - [Display-Centric Dynamic Fruit Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/circuit.md) - [Sculptural Writing Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/experimental-pencils.md) - [Imperfect Pasta Bowl Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pasta-bowl.md) - [Recycled Plastic Writing Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mechanical-drop-pencil.md) - [Cardboard-Inspired Ceramic Household Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-collection.md) - [Clothespin-Inspired Mechanical Pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pentapa.md) - [Self-Sharpening Coloring Pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinity-colouring-pencils.md)
