# Sunlit Glass Houses IDEE Architects' Mian Farm Cottage Combines Modern Design with Rusticness By Joey Haar | Published 2017-02-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mian-farm-cottage References: [archdaily](http://www.archdaily.com/804680/mian-farm-cottage-idee-architects) & [idee.vn](http://www.idee.vn/idee-houses.html) Though Mian Farm Cottage is located on a truly idyllic, rustic piece of property, the building's distinctly modern design still manages to take full advantage of the locale. Built by [IDEE Architects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hidden-spa), Mian Farm Cottage incorporates a [glass facade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flint-farm) and steel beams that might ostensibly seem to clash with its placement within the grapefruit garden of a large farm. However, those design traits only serve to heighten the beauty of the natural surroundings. Perhaps the most appealing aspect of Mian Farm Cottage is its [floor to ceiling windows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tranquil-abiding). The windows offer a 270 degree view of the surrounding farm and Vietnam's Ba Vi mountain range, and they also allow ample sunlight to naturally light the residence's interior. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Rustic Modern Design:** Designing modern structures with elements of rustic aesthetics can create captivating buildings that still take full advantage of their natural surroundings. - **Floor to Ceiling Windows:** Installing large windows in modern designs can provide natural lighting and stunning views, enhancing the experience of the space. - **Integration with Nature:** Incorporating natural elements and features in modern building designs can create a harmonious relationship between the man-made structure and its natural surroundings. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Architects and builders could incorporate rustic or natural features in modern designs to create visually appealing structures that are in harmony with the environment. - **Real Estate and Property Development:** Developers and real estate agents could market properties that take advantage of their natural surroundings by incorporating modern designs that seamlessly integrate with the environment. - **Hospitality and Tourism:** Hotel and resort developers could use rustic, modern designs and floor to ceiling windows to offer guests breathtaking views and a unique lodging experience surrounded by the beauty of nature. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Green Garden-Surrounding Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hillside-house-1.md) - [Traditional Stone Farmhouse Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-bressan.md) - [Meadow-Overlooking Sleek Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studioac-1.md) - [Contemporary Countryside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-countryside-home.md) - [Low-Slung Roofed Farmhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/merricks-farmhouse.md) - [Farmland-Inspired Rural Hotel Cottages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ningshan-luzhai-cottages.md) - [Farm Architecture-Inspired Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/farmworkers-house.md) - [Medieval Cottage Steel Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/watercress-cottage.md) - [Geometric Cave-Like Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cavelike-homes.md)
