# Contemporary Cabin Concepts 'MG Retreat' is a Modern Take on a Rustic Forest Cabin By Joey Haar | Published 2018-01-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mg-retreat References: [archdaily](https://www.archdaily.com/884250/refugio-mg-saa-arquitectura-plus-territorio) Cabins in the woods make use of some of the oldest and most fundamental aspects of engineering and architecture, but 'MG Retreat' shows that those methods aren't the only way to construct a [forest home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nest-cabin). The contemporary cabin is a fascinating combination of [wood, iron, and glass](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beaufort-bushland-retreat), with an appearance that's decidedly different from the average building in such an environment. Perhaps the most striking design element of MG Retreat is its ground floor lounge area, which is entirely enclosed in a [glass box](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-ridge). As opposed to the rustic feel of wood walls, the glass used in this room gives those inside a complete, unimpeded view of the natural surroundings. Glass might ostensibly be connected to urban architecture, but it ironically provides the most natural design possible given the context. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.7/10 - Popularity: 98% | Activity: 96% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Sustainable Architecture:** Exploring sustainable building materials and methods to create innovative cabin designs. - **Blending Nature and Modernity:** Incorporating modern architectural elements and materials into natural environments to create unique and visually striking cabin designs. - **Transparent Living Spaces:** Creating transparent and open living spaces using glass structures to provide unobstructed views of the surrounding nature. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture and Design:** Opportunities for architects and designers to experiment with unconventional materials and techniques to create contemporary cabin designs. - **Eco-tourism:** Developing eco-friendly cabin structures and accommodations that immerse visitors in nature while providing modern comfort and amenities. - **Construction and Building Materials:** Demand for sustainable and innovative building materials that can be used in the construction of modern cabins and retreats. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Forest-Treetop Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/more-cabin.md) - [Forest Retreat Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oculus.md) - [Futuristic Modular Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pebl-grand-cabin.md) - [Transparent Birchwood Nature Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immerso-glamping-cabin.md) - [Rustic Forest Timber Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rever-drage.md) - [Captivating Modern Prefab Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skali-backcountry-cubiod.md) - [Tranquil Nature-Centric Cabin Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nortehaus.md) - [Tranquil A‑Frame Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steel-a-frame.md) - [Mountain Retreat Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horizon-cabin.md)
