# Measuring Tape Annuals The Meter Calendar Counts Down the Year with Each Day as a Centimeter By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-02-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meter-calendar References: [packagingoftheworld](http://www.packagingoftheworld.com/2013/02/meter-calendar.html) & [petjamontanez](http://www.petjamontanez.com/blog/category/uncategorized/) There are more creative ways to display the date than with rectangular sheets of paper and [rows of numbered boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/annucal). The Meter Calendar was inspired by the [standard tape measure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comandi) with its [scroll of figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crydal-scroll-clock) that tots up the length of an object. Here, a string of integers has been spaced out at one-centimeter intervals, as if the contraption is intended to be a gauge for calculating span. In fact, Petja Montanez's product does have a double function of doing just that -- only up the 28th to the 31st unit. At the half mark between each numbered day, a month is written in red. The Meter Calendar counts 1 through 31 and begins again for the start of the next month. The user may cut the strip of paper at the end of each twelfth-of-a-year period. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.5/10 - Popularity: 2% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Creative Date Displays:** Opportunity for creating unique and unconventional ways to showcase dates. - **Multifunctional Products:** Potential for products that serve multiple purposes or have additional functions. - **Alternative Calendar Designs:** Room for innovative calendar designs that deviate from traditional formats. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Stationery:** Disruptive innovation opportunities to revolutionize traditional stationery products. - **Home Decor:** Potential for incorporating creative date displays into home decor items. - **Product Design:** Space for innovative approaches to multifunctional and alternative calendar designs in product design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tape Measurable Time Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/setime-clock.md) - [Sleek Rounded Measuring Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enso-tape.md) - [Intertwined Marble-Made Calendars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/noova-calendar.md) - [Coastal Desk Calendars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lighthouse-calendar.md) - [Linearly Formed Wall Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-clock-concept.md) - [Climate-Awareness Wool Calendars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/irreversible-scale.md) - [Climate Change-Informed Cloth Calendars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloth-calendar.md) - [Digital Laser Tape Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-laser.md) - [Floating Marble Cosmic Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mobius-calendar-clock.md)
