# Dark Metamorphosis Photography Giorgia Napoletano Focuses on Surreal Illusions and Identities By Meghan Young | Published 2014-09-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metamorphosis-photography References: [emptykingdom](http://www.emptykingdom.com/featured/giorgia-napoletano/) & [giorgianapoletano.weebly](http://giorgianapoletano.weebly.com/bull-who-i-am.html) The metamorphosis photography of Giorgia Napoletano, an Italian photographer and photo-manipulator, will encourage people to think about their own identity in a world of constant turmoil and transition. Emerging as a new person every so often is a great coping mechanism as long as core traits and beliefs are not lost along the way. Of course, that is simply one way to interpret the haunting metamorphosis photography. The way the models appear to dissipate into thin air or blend into random objects does give the impression that something is being lost. Yet the striking metamorphosis photography holds the promise of a new lifestyle that is bound to be healing in ways that are unexpected and organic. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 44% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Metamorphosis Photography:** Opportunity to explore the use of photography and photo-manipulation to create surreal illusions and challenge perceptions of identity. - **Identity Exploration:** Opportunity to delve into the concept of personal identity in a world of constant change and turmoil through artistic photography. - **Haunting Imagery:** Opportunity to capture and convey emotions and storytelling through haunting and surreal photography techniques. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Photography:** Opportunity for artists and photographers to experiment with new techniques and perspectives. - **Media and Entertainment:** Opportunity to create captivating visuals for films, music videos, and other forms of media. - **Psychology and Self-help:** Opportunity to use metamorphosis photography as a tool for self-reflection and personal growth. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Insect-Inspired Technical Baggage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metamorphosis-collection.md) - [Metal-Constructed Yoga Shalas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metamorphosis-yoga-shala.md) - [Transformation-Inspired Design Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/experimental-design-objects.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Transformative Cocktail Menus](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metamorphosis-menu.md) - [Cocoon-Like Knitted Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cocoon-chair-1.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Identity-Exploring Clothing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shapes-we-take.md)
