# Upcycled Jurassic Creatures The Metal T-Rex by Andrew Chase is Horrifying By Harris Jay Rosenberg Alterman | Published 2012-01-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metal-t-rex References: [obviouswinner](http://www.obviouswinner.com/obvwin/2012/1/16/a-most-awesome-metal-crafted-t-rex-dinosaur-sculpture.html) & [andrewchase](http://www.andrewchase.com/) If [Transformers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bape-and-transformers-1) and [Jurassic Park](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jurassic-park-goggles) were combined into one epic movie, this metal t-rex would definitely be the star, makign that cup of water shake harder than ever before. This menacing metal lizard is probably the only thing that could take out Optimus Prime. Artist Andrew Chase's metal T-rex is built from scrap metal found at junk yards including "plumbing pipes" and "transmission parts." The sculpture is terrifying, with its glowing yellow eyes and sharp metal teeth and, if it roared in your face, you would go crying to mama. This metal-dino isn't the type of thing one would see at the [Natural History Museum](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/londons-natural-history-museum), but might see in the year 3041 when massive robot dinosaurs rule the earth and humans are extinct. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 72% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Metal Sculptures:** Opportunities for creating unique and awe-inspiring sculptures using upcycled materials. - **Upcycled Art:** Embracing the use of found objects and scrap materials in the creation of art pieces. - **Robotic Creatures:** Exploring the creation of robotic creatures that mimic prehistoric animals. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can embrace the trend of creating sculptures using upcycled materials, offering unique and sustainable art pieces. - **Robotics:** Robotic companies can explore the development of lifelike robotic creatures that serve various purposes, from entertainment to educational exhibits. - **Environmentally-friendly Manufacturing:** Manufacturing industries can focus on incorporating upcycled materials in their production processes, promoting sustainability and reducing waste. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Auto-Transforming Toy Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grimlock.md) - [Superhero-Themed Dinosaur Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/web-chompin-spider-rex.md) - [Interactive Hatching Dinosaur Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dinosaur-toys.md) - [Dinosaur Convention Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/convention-crasher.md) - [Dinosaur Intricate Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dinosaur-fossils-tyrannosaurus-rex.md) - [Textured Scale-Covered Timepieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urwerk-ur101-trex.md) - [Dinosaur Fossil Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-dinosaur-fossils-trex-skull.md) - [Sci-Fi Nostalgic Dragon Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ground-dragon.md) - [Interactive Fossil-Inspired Costumes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wearable-dinosaur-costume.md)
