# Vine-Resembling Rest Stations This Design Takes an Extravagant Take on the Traditional Metal Arbor By Jen Chae | Published 2013-07-26 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metal-arbor References: [archinect](http://archinect.com/michael-jantzen/project/the-metallic-arbor) Like a metal arbor in a garden, this architectural prototype by Michael Jantzen is designed to be situated in a natural setting. But the Metallic Arbor takes a creative approach to traditional garden framework. Made of forty 10-ft-tall aluminum poles, this design provides a more enclosed atmosphere for whoever enters it. The poles are finished off with [vine-like tangles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-mesh) atop the structure, delivering an ambient experience for those within and outside of the arbor. The arbor has a [circular base made of granite](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-3to1-pavilion) for a perfectly polished look. Even though the structure looks tangled, the smooth texture of the tubular vines are overall sleek. The poles are also made with internal lights that illuminate at night time, providing a whimsical place for the public to enjoy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 44% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Eco Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/ecoarchitecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Metallic Arbor Designs:** This trend presents an opportunity for designers and architects to create innovative and visually striking outdoor structures that combine functionality with artistic elements. - **Enclosed Outdoor Spaces:** This trend offers opportunities for businesses to create private and intimate outdoor spaces that provide a unique experience for visitors, such as restaurants or event venues. - **Ambient Lighting in Architecture:** This trend opens up possibilities for companies specializing in lighting design to create innovative solutions for enhancing the atmosphere and aesthetics of architectural structures. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers have the opportunity to explore new possibilities in creating unique outdoor structures that redefine traditional concepts. - **Hospitality and Entertainment:** The hospitality and entertainment industries can incorporate enclosed outdoor spaces in their venues to offer customers a unique and memorable experience. - **Lighting Design:** Lighting companies can leverage the trend of ambient lighting in architecture to develop innovative lighting solutions for both indoor and outdoor spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artful Wooden Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orchid-pavilion.md) - [Interactive Architectural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-landscape.md) - [Floating Canopy Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piloti-canopy.md) - [Sustainable Visitor Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-arc.md) - [Interactive Public Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/radius-transformation-pavilion.md) - [Hidden Garden Timber Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-room-around-a-tree.md) - [Serene Wooden Garden Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garden-pavilion-1.md) - [Plant-Filled Latticed Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/touching-eden-house.md) - [Tree-Intertwined Metal Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tenir-bench.md)
