# Kneeling Coffee Tables Mesa Java by Alejandro Banda Invites You to Take a Seat and a Sip By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-02-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mesa-java-by-alejandro-banda References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Mesa-j-a-v-a/2978689) Many North Americans treat coffee drinking like a hit of energy on-the-go, seldom taking the time to sit down and enjoy their beverages. [Mesa Java](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/what-makes-a-boogie) by Alejandro Banda encourages a more mindful consumption of the comforting drink, requiring one to sit and relax while he sips from his mug. The piece is a [coffee table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ria-coffee), and one that has been assembled fairly low to bring the user down to its level. The [elegant solid wood base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boia) has been constructed with an X-shaped profile and tapering edges, seemingly resembling the position of sitting cross-legged. A broad circular surface provides sufficient space for teacups, decor and some reading material, allowing the Mesa Java by Alejandro Banda to bring you into a cozy realm of repose. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Mindful Coffee Consumption:** Designing products that encourage mindfulness in coffee consumption could be a disruptive innovation opportunity. - **Low-height Furniture:** Creating furniture that facilitates a more casual, low-height seating arrangement could be a disruptive innovation opportunity. - **Multi-functional Coffee Tables:** Combining coffee tables with additional features such as storage or bookshelves could be a disruptive innovation opportunity. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Companies that manufacture furniture could incorporate low-height coffee tables into their product offerings as a way to encourage a more mindful approach to interior design. - **Home Goods Retail:** Retailers of home goods could market coffee tables like the Mesa Java by Alejandro Banda as part of a larger trend towards hygge-inspired decor. - **Coffee and Tea Industry:** The coffee and tea industry could collaborate with furniture manufacturers to develop products that encourage a more relaxed and mindful approach to coffee and tea consumption. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Japandi-Style Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloth-coffee-table.md) - [Statuesque Marble Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mawe-low-coffee-table.md) - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Topographic Wooden Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/topographic-coffee-table.md) - [Luxe Low-Slung Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/attraction-coffee-table.md) - [Artful Coffee Table Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertushka.md) - [Italian Appetizer Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aperitivo-coffee-table.md) - [Bent Steel Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/creu-coffee-table.md) - [Solid-Ash Wooden Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boia.md)
