I mean, what girl wouldn’t want a huge closet that can be looks like a carousel? Although not made for a closet (but rather for public spaces) I think it’s still a great design. Installed last year for the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam, the Merry-go-round coat rack recently won the Golden Eye at the Dutch Design Awards 2009. If only I had the means to contact designer Wieke Somers to commission one of my own! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 88% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Interactive Furniture:** Opportunity for creating furniture designs that engage and entertain users, similar to the Merry-go-round coat rack. - **Innovative Storage Solutions:** Idea for developing unique storage options that combine functionality and aesthetics, inspired by the carousel-style coat rack. - **Playful Design Elements:** Possibility for incorporating whimsical and fun design elements into various products, following the example of the Merry-go-round coat rack. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Potential for furniture designers to create interactive and visually appealing pieces like the carousel-style coat rack. - **Home Organization:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to develop novel storage solutions that bring a playful and unique touch to organizing spaces. - **Interior Design:** Scope for interior designers to incorporate creative and entertaining design elements, inspired by the Merry-go-round coat rack, into their projects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tripod-Like Garment Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-coat-rack.md) - [Playful Monkey-Inspired Coat Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monkey-coat-stand.md) - [Chinese Character-Shaped Coat Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resting-coat-rack.md) - [Connected Curated Wardrobe Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lookandme-closet.md) - [Fragrance-Defusing Hanger Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ploud-hanger.md) - [Fashion House Festive Carousels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carousel-of-dreams.md) - [Quirky Structural Clothes Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hang-we.md) - [Open-Concept Clothing Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhutte-clothes-hanger-rack.md) - [Convenience-Focused Rotating Shoe Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rotating-shoe-rack.md)
