The facility was designed to feel inviting, warm and non-institutional. The design team collaborated with art consultancy firm Ginkgo Projects to create a distinct space that "is neither hospital nor home" - the [Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/child-studio-1) has its own identity. The design team interviewed staff members, patients, and their families to understand how their design can contribute to a positive patient experience.
