# Clarifying Pour-Over Tools The 'Melodrip' Improves the Flavor Clairty of Pour-Over Coffee By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2017-12-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/melodrip References: [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2024037108/melodrip-coffee-clarity-redefined) & [melodrip.co](https://melodrip.co/) The 'Melodrip' is a new [pour-over tool](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breville-luxe-brewer) that's being introduced on [Kickstarter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miir-new-standard-carafe) to help coffee drinkers improve the clarity of their coffee. Rather than pouring directly from the tip of a kettle, the Melodrip serves as a filter between, offering greater precision and a "zero-agitation sprinkle" that helps to reduce the amount of particulates that end up in one's cup. As the pour is spread out over a greater surface area with this tool, the coffee is also evenly hydrated and heated. The Melodrip is comprised of either a [stainless steel or a copper-plated handle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aarke-coffee-press), plus a dish component and a stick. As part of its campaign on Kickstarter, Melodrip has already exceeded its initial crowdfunding goals, which will help bring the device into the hands of many passionate coffee drinkers. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 49% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Kitchen](https://www.trendhunter.com/kitchen) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Pour-over Precision:** Melodrip introduces new filter technology for precision and clarity in pour-over coffee. - **Specialty Coffee Accessories:** Melodrip leads a new wave of specialty coffee accessories to hit the market. - **Coffee Gadgets 2.0:** The Melodrip expands the coffee gadget market through a targeted focus on precision. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Coffee Equipment & Supplies:** Melodrip creates a new industry niche in providing pour-over filter tools and supplies. - **Kitchen Appliances:** Melodrip's focus on precision highlights an emerging trend in innovative kitchen appliances. - **Crowdfunding & Product Development:** Melodrip's Kickstarter success illustrates new opportunities for product development and crowdfunding in food and beverage equipment. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sleek Pour-Over Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pourover-coffee-maker1.md) - [Modern Drip Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-drip-coffee-maker.md) - [Cold Extraction Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cold-drip-coffee-maker.md) - [Designer Drip Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fellow-aiden.md) - [Style-Conscious Coffee Kettles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artisan-gooseneck-kettle.md) - [Artisan Single-Serve Coffees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rival-bros-dripkit.md) - [Stainless Coffee Press Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aarke-coffee-press.md) - [Elevated Drip Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breville-luxe-brewer.md) - [Coffee-Brewing Carafes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miir-new-standard-carafe.md)
