# Biblical Typography Artwork Meg Hitchcock Puts a Creative Spin on Old Religious Texts By Matt Ho | Published 2011-04-05 | Social Good Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meg-hitchcock References: [thisiscolossal](http://thisiscolossal.com/2011/04/meg-hitchcock/) & [meghitchcock](http://www.meghitchcock.com) Meg Hitchcock has got to be the most patient person in the world considering how incredibly time-consuming her methods for completing her artworks are. The talented artist cuts up various passages from one [religious text](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/greg-mike1) and puts them together to form another. So for example, as Hitchcock puts it, she may cut-out a passage from the Old Testament and reassemble the letters to form a passage from the Bhagavad Gita. But instead of just pasting texts together, she [carefully arranges them](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intricate-jigsaw-puzzle) to form [unique collages and shapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti). Her work can take up to five hours to complete one piece. Meg Hitchcock's work is definitely a must-see. The amount of time she puts into it and the creative concepts should be more than convincing to check her art pieces out. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Social Good](https://www.trendhunter.com/socialgood) > [Religious](https://www.trendhunter.com/religious) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Religious Textual Mashups:** Exploring the possibilities of cutting and re-arranging text from different religious texts to create new meanings and interpretations. - **Typography Collage Art:** Combining artistic collages with textual elements to create unique and visually stunning pieces of art. - **Handmade Artwork:** Revitalizing the traditional art of hand-cutting and pasting with modern design and subject matter. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Fine Art:** There are opportunities for artists and galleries to explore incorporating religious themes into contemporary artwork and design. - **Printing and Publishing:** Incorporating creative typography and collage elements into publications, books, and other print media can enhance visual appeal and interest for readers. - **Religious Institutions:** Exploring new ways of interpreting and presenting religious texts and themes through art and design can engage and inspire new audiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Geometric Wooden Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aleph-geddis.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Intricate Fiber Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/threadwork-women-redefining-fiber-arts.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Typographic-Inspired Intricate Textiles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glyph-collection.md) - [Laser-Cut Urban Artistry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-cut-city-maps.md) - [Wooden Identity Art Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hughmanity.md) - [Neurodiversity-Exploring Textiles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interwoven-project.md) - [Neon Illuminated Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/love-and-unity.md)
