# Origami-Like Meeting Pavilions The PleatPod Serves as an Eye-Catching Solution to Noisy Offices By Ell Smith | Published 2017-08-31 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meeting-pavilion References: [aabios](https://www.aabios.com/pleatpod) & [zilkastudio.au](https://www.zilkastudio.com.au/pleatpod) The open-concept office is wonderful for encouraging collaboration and unity, but when it comes to silently working, annoyances may arise -- to combat this issue, one company developed an origami-like meeting pavilion, which can unfold to create a [sound-proofed sanctuary](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sonus-m). The 'PleatPod' was developed by [RMIT](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mpavilion-9) as a solution to the lack of [private meeting rooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kall-booth) within most modern offices. The pop-up structure can unfold like an accordion, offering a sound-absorbing room that's ideal for holding meetings. Sound absorption aside, the meeting pod's colorful, angular exterior would complement even the dreariest of office spaces. The enclosure was designed to sit somewhere between "architecture and a garment," offering a unique space that amends the flaws open-concept offices possess. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.8/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 75% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Origami-inspired Architecture:** The trend of using origami-like structures in architecture presents opportunities for innovative and customizable building designs. - **Flexible Meeting Spaces:** The trend of creating flexible and adaptable meeting spaces allows for efficient use of office areas while addressing the need for privacy and focus. - **Sound-proofing Solutions:** The trend of developing sound-proofing solutions in office environments offers opportunities to improve productivity and create quiet working spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** The architecture industry can explore origami-like structures to create unique and dynamic buildings that foster creativity and functionality. - **Office Furniture and Design:** The office furniture and design industry can develop flexible meeting spaces and sound-proofing solutions to enhance the productivity and well-being of employees. - **Acoustics and Sound Engineering:** The acoustics and sound engineering industry can innovate and provide advanced solutions for sound-proofing materials and technologies in office environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Private Office Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solarlux-soundproof-space.md) - [Sound-Blocking Office Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/room-phone-booth.md) - [Modular Office Meeting Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toko-meeting-pod.md) - [Quirky Solo Office Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/work-capsules.md) - [Sustainable Office Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chatpod-700.md) - [Flexible Office Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flexible-office-pod.md) - [Calming Workspace Productivity Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kabin-privacy-pod.md) - [Contemporary Modular Office Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kameleon-office-booth.md) - [Calming Acoustic Privacy Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/actiu-qyos.md)
