# Two-Tier Table Lamps The Medusa Bedside Lamp is a Stacked Side Table and Standing Light By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-06-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/medusa-bedside-lamp References: [mikhailbelyaev](http://mikhailbelyaev.com/design.html) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Medusa-Bedside-Lamp/4151299) The Medusa Bedside Lamp is a lovely, logical and improved solution to the popular combination of the [side table and table lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/engrid-desk-lamp) to provide both storage and illumination. It takes the shape of an oversized fixture and flaunts a pair of open ledges for the placement of a number of items. Mikhail Belyaev's piece of contemporary furniture is made from [smooth white Corian](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emit), sculpting a tripod form with three slender legs that unite in the narrowing cylindrical shape of a tall lampshade. A lightbulb can be installed in the hollow interior, casting a bright glow through the translucent material and out the bottom of the cover. Circular ledges on top and below the shade provide two levels to put books, glasses and alarm clocks on the Medusa Bedside Lamp. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 30% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Two-tier Lamps:** Designing lamps that also double as furniture for compact living spaces. - **Smart Side Tables:** Creating digitally-connected side tables that feature wireless charging, adjustable lighting and other intelligent features. - **Customizable Lighting:** Developing lighting fixtures with customizable aesthetics and illumination options to suit individual preferences and moods. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** Innovating home furniture through the integration of multi-functional designs which provide improved convenience and space-saving solutions. - **Lighting:** Incorporating technological innovations such as smart controls and energy-efficient lighting to conventional light fixtures to provide enhanced functionalities and environmental benefits. - **Interior Design:** Creating interior design solutions that provide efficient storage, illumination, and aesthetically-pleasing design to enhance the visual appeal of living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stackable Modular Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/module-table-lamp.md) - [Sleek Rechargeable Marbled Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solid-table-light.md) - [Luxurious Futuristic Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/futuristic-table-lamp.md) - [Illuminated Modern Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lumera.md) - [Sculptural Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leda.md) - [Reversible Glass Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jal.md) - [Elegant Compact Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-table-light.md) - [Stunning Mushroom-Shaped Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mushroomshaped-table-lamp.md) - [Geometric Nostalgic Night Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handmaid-table-lamp.md)
