# Retro Futurist Keyboard Replicas The MDR Dasher Keyboard Showcases Bold Design in a Modern Build By Amy Duong | Published 2025-08-27 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mdr-dasher-keyboard References: [mdrkeyboard](https://mdrkeyboard.com/) The MDR Dasher keyboard showcases bold design in a modern build by blending [retro-futurist styling](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/8bitdo-retro-108) with contemporary engineering. Created by [Atomic Keyboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/golden-child), the piece is [milled from solid CNC-machined aluminum](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminum-keyboard) and weighs around seven kilograms, giving it the presence of a design object as much as a tool. Details like the omission of certain keys highlight its conceptual roots, while hot-swappable switches and customizable keycaps ensure modern usability. Three interchangeable magnetic layouts—Innie with a trackball, Outie with a compact format, and Dasher with a number pad—allow flexible configurations. Launched through a crowdfunding campaign in August, the keyboard quickly surpassed its funding goals. Early supporters secured the model at an introductory price, while later releases are expected at a higher retail cost. With shipping scheduled to begin in late 2025, the MDR Dasher establishes itself as both a collectible and a practical piece of design innovation.
