This super car has a modest goal, according to its site: "to be the best driver's car in the world on road and track." To do that, McLaren draws inspiration from its racing division. That means that this car goes *fast*! In true sports supercar style, the McLaren P1 is painted a mandarin orange color. These cars are for people who really like to fly down the highway or racetrack (which would be much safer). The beautiful thing about this car is that it looks as good as it drives -- and it drives great. Though not much information on the technical aspects of the car has been released as yet, comparisons are drawn to its predecessor, the [MP4-12C](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canada-10th-anniversary) coupe. The McLaren P1 is meant to be an upgrade on the classic coupe, which has a 5.0-liter V-8 engine producing 443 lb-ft of torque. Other comparisons have been made to the Spider, which is at this point an iconic convertible and the holy grail for all gearheads. McLaren will be revealing and selling a production version sometime next year. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 77% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Supercar Upgrades:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop advanced technologies to enhance the performance and driving experience of iconic supercars. - **Racing-inspired Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate racing division-inspired design elements into mainstream sports cars to create a more visually appealing and aerodynamically efficient vehicle. - **High-speed Automotive Excellence:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Push the boundaries of speed and performance to create the ultimate driver's car that excels both on the road and on the track. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Automotive:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore advanced materials, propulsion systems, and aerodynamic enhancements to revolutionize the automotive industry and create next-generation supercars. - **Automotive Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate racing-inspired design elements and cutting-edge aesthetics to redefine the visual appeal and overall experience of sports cars. - **Car Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Implement advanced production techniques and technologies to streamline the manufacturing process and produce high-performance supercars more efficiently. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Lightweight High-Performance Supercars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightweight-highperformance-supercar.md) - [Old Supercar Battery Upgrades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/p1-battery-upgrade.md) - [Canada-Celebrating Supercars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canada-10th-anniversary.md) - [Uniquely Personalizable Supercars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/765lt-spider.md) - [Sleek Racing-Inspired Super Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maserati-mc20.md) - [Hybrid Convertible Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artura-spider.md) - [Hypercar Replica Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-technic-mclaren-p1.md) - [Camouflaged Track-Racing Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artura-gt4.md) - [Luxury Game-Inspired Hypercars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solus-gt.md)
