Canadian brand Consonant Skincare recently launched a Maximum Glycolic Meta Serum—true to its name, the serum contains maximum allowable concentration of glycolic acid in an over-the-counter product in Canada.

Glycolic acid is often touted as a miracle product for the skin, as it is the type of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) with the smallest molecule and the greatest penetration. Glycolic acid is useful for [exfoliating the skin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aha-bha-solution) to remove skin that is dry, coarse or dead. As such, Consonant's new serum is ideal for those seeking [smoother, brighter and firmer-looking skin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brighter-days-vitamin-c-serum). Although the word "acid" deters some consumers, an independent clinical study of the [high-performance serum](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illuminating-radiant-vitamin-c-serum) revealed that no participant experienced burning or redness as a result of use.

As well as boasting 10% glycolic acid, the Maximum Glycolic Meta Serum also features four all-natural botanical extracts: pennywort, poria mushroom, hibiscus and the common reed.
