# Suspended Bridge Beds Max Longin's Floating Mattress By Going Like Sixty | Published 2008-09-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/max-longin-floating-mattress References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2008/09/02/float-on-to-sleep/) & [max-longin](http://www.max-longin.com/) Aside from the [Fluttua bed](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fluttua-the-floating-bed) that actually floats on air, the **Float bridge bed** has to be the coolest bed ever made. **Max Longin** designed the bed based on the inspiration of the architecture of suspension bridges, as he was intrigued by the calming movement. After he built the bed, he promptly fell asleep. Four stainless steel cords hold the bed in place, which surprisingly can hold up to 2,645 lbs, allowing multiple bed jumps by multiple people. The Float is available at a starting price of $6,200. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 82% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Suspended Bridge Beds:** Innovative beds inspired by suspension bridges offer a disruptive opportunity to enhance the sleeping experience. - **Floating Furniture:** The trend of floating furniture presents design and engineering opportunities for creating unique products that defy gravity. - **Multi-person Beds:** There is a growing demand for multi-person beds that can support the weight of more than two people, creating an opportunity for innovative designs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can leverage the trend of suspended bridge beds to create new and unique product designs. - **Architecture:** Architecture firms can incorporate the suspension bridge design inspiration into their buildings, offering an innovative form of artistic expression. - **Hospitality:** Hotels can incorporate multi-person beds like the Float to provide a unique guest experience, attracting more customers and increasing revenue. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Zero-Gravity Dog Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hover-dog-bed.md) - [Wooden Structural Outdoor Bedes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hut-lounge-bed.md) - [Omni-Position Camping Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/float-tent.md) - [Steel Back Support Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sleeping-duck-indestruct-bed.md) - [Fairytale-Inspired Bed Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/circu-mr-bunny-bed.md) - [Bed Conversion Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ensven-modular-bed-rocker.md) - [Circular Panoramic Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hastens-and-doolittle-house.md) - [Scandinavian-Inspired Floating Daybeds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poolsofa.md) - [Candy-Dispensing Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-sleep-bed.md)
