# Widely-Compatible Smart Shades SmartWings Showcased its First Matter Shades at CES 2024 By Colin Smith | Published 2024-02-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/matter-shades References: [smartwingshome](https://www.smartwingshome.com/en-ca/pages/work-with-matter-over-thread) Matter Shades are smart motorized shades and blinds that work with any smart home system, thanks to the Matter over Thread protocol. This protocol allows for seamless integration with popular ecosystems such as Apple [HomeKit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arpobot-smart-shade), Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, [SmartThings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nanoleaf-1), and more. Matter Shades also offer faster, more reliable, and safer connectivity than other smart shades, as they create a mesh network with other Thread-enabled devices at home. Matter Shades are highly customizable, with a variety of styles, sizes, and materials to choose from. [SmartWings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartwings-nowa) offers Matter Shades in different price ranges, depending on the type, size, and material of the shade. The Matter-enabled motor is the most expensive option, adding $100 to the cost of the standard motor. However, this option provides future-proofing and convenience, as it eliminates the need to commit to a single smart home system. SmartWings also offers optional accessories such as solar panels, remotes, and sensors to enhance the functionality of the Matter Shades. Matter Shades are available to order online from the SmartWings website, or from authorized dealers in Canada.
