The Matt Kennedy Paintchip Bookshelf is first and foremost a [functional shelving unit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelving-unit-01). To make it even more efficient, Matt has made each shelf detachable, allowing the furniture owner to create their own unique shelving shape and to take the unit apart easily when moving it. However, the most fantastic feature of this shelf is it's aesthetic design. The Matt Kennedy Paintchip Bookshelf perfectly resembles a common [color swatch](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/center-center-storage)! The inside of each section of the unit is painted a shade darker than the section before it. He has also carved and painted the names of the color shades onto each shelf, making the furniture even funnier. Kennedy's clever Paintchip Bookshelf will definitely make any room chipper! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 44% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Customizable Shelving Units:** The detachable shelves of the Matt Kennedy Paintchip Bookshelf open up opportunities for customizable shelving designs. - **Aesthetic Furniture Design:** The color swatch design of the Matt Kennedy Paintchip Bookshelf showcases the growing trend of aesthetic furniture design. - **Personalized Home Decor:** The ability to arrange the shelves of the Matt Kennedy Paintchip Bookshelf allows for personalized home decor displays. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The customizable and aesthetically pleasing design of the Matt Kennedy Paintchip Bookshelf brings disruptive innovation to the furniture manufacturing industry. - **Interior Design:** The color swatch aesthetic of the Matt Kennedy Paintchip Bookshelf offers opportunities for interior designers to create unique and visually appealing spaces. - **Home Decor Retail:** The personalized and customizable features of the Matt Kennedy Paintchip Bookshelf provide a unique selling point for home decor retailers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cheft.md) - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Jigsaw Puzzle-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puzzle-shelf.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md) - [Pink Tonal Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reisinger-pink.md) - [Mobile Illuminating Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/for-a-fleeting-moment.md) - [Modular Grid-Style Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bend-shelf-by-spenser-atlas.md)
