# Solar System-Like Hangers The Mategot Coatrack Looks Like a Playful School Project By Meghan Young | Published 2013-05-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mategot-coatrack References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/mategot-coatrack-by-mathieu-mategot/) & [gubi.dk](http://www.gubi.dk/) The Mategot Coatrack can be likened to a few things: a solar system school project, metal jack toys and more. What appears to be a common thread throughout these comparisons is a childlike quality many households could benefit from. But for those looking for a bit more sophistication and maturity, the Mategot Coatrack seems to channel the [Eames](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eames-furniture) dot pattern as well. Designed by Mathieu Matégot for Gubi, the Mategot Coatrack boasts three arms hat jut out from a brass body. Purported to be mounted on the wall, each arm ends with a circular hook that provides a better hold for jackets, bags, umbrellas and more. Although the matte black of the Mategot Coatrack's arms can be continued to the hooks, they are also available in bright colors. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Playful Coat Hangers:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design coat hangers with playful and childlike qualities to add a touch of whimsy to households. - **Space-inspired Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore space-themed designs in furniture and home decor to create unique and eye-catching pieces. - **Functional Wall-mounted Hooks:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create wall-mounted hooks with better holding capabilities for jackets, bags, umbrellas, and more. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate playful and unique designs in home decor products to appeal to a wider consumer base. - **Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate space-inspired themes and designs in furniture pieces for a distinctive and modern look. - **Storage Solutions:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop functional and efficient wall-mounted hooks and storage solutions for better organization and convenience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sporty Climbing-Inspired Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grip-hanger.md) - [Playful Monkey-Inspired Coat Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monkey-coat-stand.md) - [Geometrically Shaped Hanger Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/triangle-hanger.md) - [Open-Concept Clothing Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhutte-clothes-hanger-rack.md) - [Wall-Mounted Wall Rack](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/velto.md) - [Sleek Outdoor Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/satellite-collection.md) - [Smiley Clothing Wall Hooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/itsahook.md) - [Quirky Structural Clothes Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hang-we.md) - [Rotating Punctuation Mark Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emotion-hanger.md)
