# Horticulture Matchbooks Ignite Your Child's Green Thumb With the Matchstick Garden By Katherinev123 | Published 2009-10-20 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/matchstick-garden References: [inhabitots](http://www.inhabitots.com/2009/10/18/matchstick-garden-creates-green-thumb-magic/) & [rompbklyn](http://www.rompbklyn.com/productDetail.php?productId=515&categoryId=88&optionId=1087&productItemId=888&imageId=2329) If your child would rather play in the grass than help you plant a flower, it might be time for a Matchstick Garden set. The Matchstick Garden sets are eco-friendly and biodegradable matchbooks that have seeds embedded into the tip of each match for easy planting in your garden or plant pot. Each Matchstick Garden set includes ten matchsticks and there are four different Matchstick Garden sets for your little one to collect and harvest including Mixed Herbs, Wildflowers, Italian Garden, and Mixed Greens. I’m sure any kid would be enticed (it is, after all, a chance to play with matches). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 30% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Eco-friendly Horticulture:** The trend towards eco-friendly horticulture is providing opportunities to create sustainable products and services such as biodegradable matchbooks with embedded seeds. - **Childhood Gardening:** The trend towards encouraging children to appreciate the environment is providing opportunities to create child-friendly gardening products and services such as matchbook gardens. - **Biodegradable Products:** The trend towards sustainability is driving demand for biodegradable products, such as biodegradable matchbooks, which provide opportunities for innovation in various industries. ### Who This Affects Most - **Horticulture:** The horticulture industry can create sustainable and child-friendly products to encourage children to appreciate nature, such as the Matchstick Garden sets. - **Eco-friendly Products:** The eco-friendly products industry can create innovative and sustainable products such as biodegradable matchbooks with embedded seeds for gardening purposes. - **Toy and Game Industry:** The toy and game industry can create educational and eco-friendly products to encourage children to learn about the environment and sustainability, such as the Matchstick Garden sets. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [STEM Gardening Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/organic-terrarium-kids-grow-kit.md) - [Comprehensive Gardening Brands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gardenuity.md) - [Kid-Friendly Houseplant Subscriptions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/my-first-plant.md) - [Beginners Vegetable Garden Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gourmet-garden.md) - [Container-Based Indoor Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bottle-farm-mini.md) - [Eco-Friendly Pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sprout-worlds-plantable-pencils.md) - [Festive Plantable Pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plantable-pencils.md) - [Eco Colourful Flower Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grow-colors.md) - [Herb Mixology Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garden-party-mixology-gift-set.md)
