# Space-Saving Sleeping Nooks The MAt Bedroom Efficiently Arranges All Furniture Along One Wall By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-01-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mat-bedroom References: [dornob](http://dornob.com/built-in-sleeping-nook-is-a-smart-small-space-solution/) & [vanstaeyen.be](http://www.vanstaeyen.be/ontwerpbureau/mat/8) The MAt bedroom demonstrates an effective use of a small space that few people might have thought up. Dealing with quite a tight area and a request for ample storage, Van Staeyen Interieur opted to create the ultimate in built-in furnishings that occupy an entire wall. The most notable feature of the room is the abstractly shaped opening in the otherwise flush surface of cupboards. Believe it or not, this nook actually contains a [full queen-size mattress](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/essential-bed); cabinet below opens up to provide an easy step up inside. Surrounding this cozy nest is a [wide and deep storage system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apt-drawers) that can hold garments and many miscellaneous items. With a single spanning plank that performs as a perfect desk, the MAt bedroom can appear spacious and clutter-free. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.6/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 55% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Space-saving Furniture:** Opportunities for disruptive innovation in creating furniture that maximizes space in small areas, such as built-in furnishings and hidden storage solutions. - **Customized Nooks:** Potential for disruptive innovation in designing personalized nooks, like the abstractly shaped opening in the cupboards, to provide unique and functional spaces. - **Multi-functional Designs:** Opportunities for disruptive innovation in developing furniture that serves multiple purposes, like the single spanning plank that acts as both a desk and a workspace. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Opportunities in the interior design industry to create innovative space-saving solutions and customized nooks for small living spaces. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Potential for disruptive innovation in the furniture manufacturing industry to develop multi-functional designs that maximize space and offer hidden storage options. - **Home Organization:** Opportunities for disruptive innovation in the home organization industry to provide innovative storage solutions that optimize space in small living areas. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Overhead Storage Single Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otto-cobbo-bed.md) - [Reimagined Minimal Parisian Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-cocoon.md) - [Cleverly Designed Micro Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabanon.md) - [Thoughtful Micro Studio Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-studio-apartment.md) - [Smart Home Space-Saving Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-collection.md) - [Hidden Murphy Bed Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tonale-murphy-bed.md) - [Smartly Designed Compact Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-apartments2.md) - [Motorized Sofa Wall Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tonale.md) - [Adaptable Bedroom Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mate-bedside-table.md)
