The app provides all the same content that MasterClass subscribers have come to appreciate and learn from, but it brings that content in a mobile format that allows people to gain knowledge anywhere. MasterClass is interesting in that it's far more expensive than the average content provider. Comparing it to something like [Spotify](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spotify-courses) or [Netflix](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immortality-game) makes it seem prohibitively expensive, in fact. However, the program has managed to succeed nonetheless because it offers more than pure entertainment; users gain knowledge and skills from some of the biggest names in their respective fields. "Masters" include the likes of Stephen Curry for basketball, Serena Williams for tennis, Aaron Sorkin for scriptwriting, Frank Gehry for architecture, and Gordon Ramsay for cooking. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 20% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Mobile Learning:** The MasterClass program's new iOS app demonstrates the growing trend of mobile learning platforms, providing opportunities for disruptive innovation in the education industry. - **Expert-led Instruction:** The success of MasterClass, with its renowned professionals as instructors, highlights the increasing trend towards expert-led instruction, presenting opportunities for disruptive innovation in online education. - **Premium Education Content:** MasterClass's ability to draw subscribers despite its higher cost indicates a rising trend for premium education content, creating opportunities for disruptive innovation in the content streaming industry. ### Who This Affects Most - **Mobile App Development:** The launch of the MasterClass iOS app opens up opportunities for disruptive innovation in the mobile app development industry to create engaging and interactive learning platforms. - **Online Education:** The success of MasterClass demonstrates the potential for disruptive innovation in the online education industry, encouraging the development of high-quality, expert-led platforms. - **Content Streaming:** MasterClass's premium education content suggests an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the content streaming industry by providing specialized and unique educational content. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Educational YouTuber Video Classes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marques-brownlee-masterclass.md) - [AI-Powered Mentors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/masterclass-on-call.md) - [AI-Powered Cooking Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gordon-ramsays-ai.md) - [Foundational Skincare Classes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skin-health-series.md) - [Music App Learning Courses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spotify-courses.md) - [Exclusive Cybersecurity Classes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/masterclass-cyberwarfare.md) - [Unpretentious Wine Classes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/masterclass-guide-to-wine.md) - [Virtual Beauty Masterclasses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/easy-beauty-school.md) - [Omni-Education Learning Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bytesized-app.md)
