The new home has an exterior facade that takes inspiration from the surroundings, using a natural palette of concrete, zinc and cedar. The home blends into the forest during the summer, while creating a unique contrast in the snowy winters. The interior features two wings, divided by a private area that extends past the slope of the site with a luxurious master bedroom at the end. The living space acts as the heart of the home, running horizontally with the landscape. The large over-sized windows offer expansive views, while flooding each room with natural lighting. John Maniscalco's Martins Camp used the beauty of nature to create a home that flows seamlessly out onto an exterior living space with an [outdoor spa and hot tub](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horizon-cabin). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **L-shaped Modern Homes:** There is an opportunity for architects to create more L-shaped modern homes that blend into and take inspiration from their natural surroundings. - **Natural Palettes in Home Design:** Homeowners are looking for homes that use natural palettes in their exterior design, such as concrete, zinc and cedar. - **Seamless Indoor-outdoor Living Spaces:** There is a trend towards creating homes that flow seamlessly from indoor to outdoor living spaces, such as through the use of large windows and outdoor spas and hot tubs. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Architects can take advantage of the trend towards L-shaped modern homes and using natural palettes in home design to disrupt the market and offer innovative solutions to clients. - **Homebuilding:** Homebuilders can capitalize on the trend towards creating seamless indoor-outdoor living spaces by incorporating features such as outdoor spas and hot tubs into their designs. - **Home Decor:** The trend towards natural palettes in home design presents an opportunity for home decor retailers to offer products that complement and enhance these types of environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Lakeside Family Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muskoka-lakeside-cottage.md) - [Artistic Lakeside Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ely-retreat.md) - [Tranquil Nature-Centric Cabin Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nortehaus.md) - [Modern Mountainous Luxury Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robert-chisholm-architects.md) - [Organic Lake Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/usonianinspired-lake-house.md) - [Thoughtful Lakeside Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lakeside-living.md) - [Mountain Courtyard Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ski-house.md) - [Pavilion-Style Lakeside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clearwater-lake-retreat.md) - [Nature-Connecting Vacation Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-by-the-lake.md)
