# Icy Italian Abodes The Martina House Features a Monochrome Color Scheme By Joey Haar | Published 2018-05-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/martina-house References: [archdaily](https://www.archdaily.com/893805/martina-deltastudio) A comfortable home means different things to different people, and the Martina house in Caprarola, Italy, represents one end of the spectrum. The home, which was designed for a family with a nearby farm, is incredibly [chic, austere, and modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silver-house), contrasting strongly against the coziness and warmth that might typify a more traditional living space. One of the most striking aspects of the Martina house is its use of color -- or, more aptly, its lack thereof. The home's design relies almost exclusively on the [interplay of black and white](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grey-house), with very little other color involved in the base layout. The only hue aside from those two is the light ecru of the [wood finishings throughout the home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-gesso).
