The firm went with a teardrop theme for most of the greenery surrounding the area, creating a naturalistic look to the entire design. Looking down from an aerial view, it's clear that Martha Schwartz Partners embodied this teardrop design in almost all of the landscaping done around the Abu Dhabi plaza. Greenery with a few [colorful plants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wired-scape) strewn here and there help add some color to the design, but for the most part it's quite simplistic in terms of tone. Apparently the plants chosen were used because of their durability and resilience. Because of this, the landscape will require less maintenance over the years, which will save money in the long run. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Tear-shaped Landscaping:** Opportunity for landscape architecture firms to explore teardrop-shaped designs for a naturalistic and simplistic look in urban spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Landscape Architecture:** Landscape architecture firms can incorporate tear-shaped designs in their projects, using durable and resilient plants for low-maintenance and cost-effective solutions ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Warm Weather-Catered Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scottsdale-civic-plaza.md) - [Organic Striking Tower Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-leaves.md) - [Water-Less Minimal Design Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/botnica.md) - [Nature-Inspired Artful Garden Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henderson-art-garden.md) - [Artfully Made Floating Plazas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aquapraa.md) - [Urban Ecological Design Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-ecological-design.md) - [Reimagined Civic Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/union-terrace-garden.md) - [Award-Winning Landscape Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/landscape-intervention.md) - [Greenery-Filled Skyscraper Terrarium](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terrarium-cheongdam.md)
