# Contemporary Marble Furniture The Marmo Table by Olof Jakobina is Minimalist and Opulent By Meghan Young | Published 2013-04-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marmo-table References: [coolhunting](http://www.coolhunting.com/design/marmo-table-by-olof-jakobina.php) & [olofjakobinadesign.blogspot](http://olofjakobinadesign.blogspot.ca/2013/03/marmo.html) The Marmo Table combines the simplicity of [minimalist modern furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-table-designs) with the grandiose nature of opulent Victorian pieces. Overall, it leans towards the former while the use of a [luxurious marble tabletop](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terra-frammenti) pays tribute to the latter. A fine piece of furniture, the Marmo Table adds a decorative element to living spaces without going overboard in the slightest. Created by furniture and interior designer Ólöf Jakobína, the Marmo Table is made using a slab of Bianco Carrara marble, which contrasts neatly with its [thin wire base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intra-side-table). As Cool Hunting beautifully describes, "The cold rock and splash of color come together in contemporary Icelandic form, referencing the brightly colored architecture that peppers the country's stark, barren landscape." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Modern Furniture:** Opportunities for disrupting the furniture industry by creating minimalist furniture designs with a modern twist. - **Opulent Victorian Influences:** Innovative ideas for incorporating opulent Victorian elements into contemporary furniture designs, combining elegance with modern aesthetics. - **Luxurious Marble Tabletops:** Potential for revolutionizing the use of marble in furniture design by creating luxurious tabletops that add a touch of grandeur to living spaces. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunities for disrupting the industry by incorporating minimalist design principles into the production of modern furniture. - **Interior Design:** Innovative possibilities for incorporating opulent Victorian influences into contemporary interior designs, adding a touch of glamour to living spaces. - **Marble Industry:** Potential for transforming the use of marble by creating high-end tabletops that cater to the demand for luxurious and stylish furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Statuesque Marble Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mawe-low-coffee-table.md) - [Minimalist Monolithic Table Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taula-table-collection.md) - [Paper Mable-Made Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bentley-home.md) - [Chic Stone Fragment Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skrivo-for-miniforms-pinto.md) - [Marble Fragment Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miscellaneous-side-table.md) - [Raw Stone-Inspired Jagged Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fels-coffee-table.md) - [Sculpture-Like Geometric Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skim-coffee-table.md) - [Sturdy Minimalist Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sturdy-minimalist-table.md) - [Sleek Rechargeable Marbled Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solid-table-light.md)
