# Battle-Ready Plumber Posters Mario Warfare Isn't Just Bananas and Shells Anymore By Harris Jay Rosenberg Alterman | Published 2012-01-30 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mario-warfare References: [bitrebels](http://www.bitrebels.com/design/4-new-promotional-posters-for-mario-warfare/?) & [beatdownboogie](http://www.beatdownboogie.com/category/mario-warfare/) Judging these posters, Mario Warfare is a lot more like [Call of Duty](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/call-of-duty-beavis-and-butthead) and a lot less like [Mario Kart](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mario-kart-world). These [promotional posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sen-donnan) for the upcoming Mario Warfare series look like it's going to be a bloodbath. Peach has gone from cute princess to a badass pink warrior with two matching pink AK-47s. Mario looks like he could smash someone's head in with a wrench and feel no remorse. Toad appears to be something like an Italian mobster in his white suits and dark shades (he also has two machine guns locked and loaded). Luigi looks like he has lost his mind from all the bloodshed and is now just firing off shots like a madman. Mario Warfare is sure to be a battle for the ages, but it's a good guess that none of the traditional Mario weapons will be used for killing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Mario Warfare:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop a video game that combines the fun and familiar elements of Mario with the immersive gameplay and intense action of Call of Duty. - **Battle-ready Posters:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create visually striking promotional posters that take beloved characters from lighthearted franchises and reimagine them as fierce warriors, appealing to a new audience. - **Hybrid Gaming:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Merge different genres of video games, such as platformers and first-person shooters, to create a unique and captivating gaming experience. ### Who This Affects Most - **Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new forms of entertainment that blend different genres, attracting a wider range of consumers and pushing the boundaries of traditional storytelling. - **Marketing and Advertising:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Utilize visually compelling posters and promotional materials that challenge traditional perceptions of well-known brands or characters, creating buzz and generating interest in new ways. - **Gaming:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Redefine the gaming landscape by combining elements from popular game franchises to create exciting new gaming experiences that appeal to a diverse audience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Game-Inspired Soap Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gameinspired-soap-collection.md) - [Video Game-Inspired Homewares](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-mario-home-adventure-life.md) - [Fire-Breathing Toy Figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jakks-pacific-super-mario-bros-movie.md) - [Regal Adventure Game Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-princess-peach-showtime.md) - [Video Game Travel Merchandise](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-super-mario-travel-items.md) - [Iconic Sidescroller Franchises](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-mario-bros-wonder.md) - [Video Game Refreshment Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suntory-x-super-mario.md) - [Cozy Video Game Loungewear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-mario-meets-gelato-pique.md) - [Nostalgic Gaming Cookies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oreo-x-super-mario.md)
