# Poetically Surreal Graphics Marina Papi Adds an Element of Fantasy to Every Day Life By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2014-10-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marina-papi References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/marina-papi-illustrative-photographs) & [instagram](http://instagram.com/marinapapi) Graphic designer Marina Papi has the ability to transform an [ordinary photograph](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/image-painter) into a [surreal composition](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-shape-of-play), simply by adding her illustrations into the mix. The artist, who is based out of Rio de Janeiro, explains that this is her "attempt to write poetry without any words." Her work is indeed poetic, adding elements of imagination, spontaneity and playfulness to what would otherwise be a prosaic scene. Papi is partial to [rainbow-colored hues](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorama), using them to intensify landscapes, create entirely new characters or alter existing ones. A parachute becomes a bird, for instance, while a ball turns into a planet. Whether she's painting a child wandering in space or a group of flying jellyfish, Papi's work is a visual dream. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 37% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Surreal Graphics:** Explore the use of surreal graphics to transform ordinary photographs into visually captivating compositions. - **Imaginative Illustrations:** Embrace the use of imaginative illustrations to add elements of imagination, spontaneity, and playfulness to art and design. - **Colorful Transformations:** Experiment with the use of rainbow-colored hues to intensify landscapes and create new characters or alter existing ones. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Graphic Design:** Incorporate surreal graphics and imaginative illustrations in graphic design projects to create visually stunning compositions. - **Art and Entertainment:** Add elements of imagination, spontaneity, and playfulness to art and entertainment through the use of surreal graphics and imaginative illustrations. - **Photography:** Explore the transformation of ordinary photographs into surreal compositions by adding imaginative illustrations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Vibrantly Artful Graphic Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sabine-finkenauer.md) - [Juxtaposing Artful Collaborative Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sea-galaxy.md) - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Image-To-Poetry Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-data-poets.md) - [Surrealist Beauty Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toiletpaper-magazine.md) - [Artsy Surrealist Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gohar-world.md)
