This wooden shirt was showcased at Paris Fashion Week as part of the Spring/Summer 2012 line of designer Manish Arora. The futuristic, structural and architectural details of this corset-like top, along with its stiff, unpractical wood frame, make it the perfect garment for famous pop starlets like Lady Gaga or Nicki Minaj.

And, although the shirt is definitely avant-garde in its design, there is something both romantic and warrior-like about its cage shape that brings to mind imagery of body armor and fashion aesthetics from decades gone by. Cut into the woodwork are shapes that resemble those of vital organs and inner components of the human body, like a heart, lungs, veins and bones, giving this top a sort of exoskeleton feel.

Perhaps a metaphor for femininity and strength, this shirt by Manish Arora is an artistic masterpiece that would look as good worn on the body as it would displayed as a piece of beautiful home decor, even if it does give you a couple of splinters.
