# Endearing Jenga-Like Lamps This Manifattura Italiana Illuminator Intricately Requires Assembly By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2013-02-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manifattura-italiana References: [mocoloco](http://mocoloco.com/archives/028495.php) The design team over at Manifattura Italiana Design have created a Jenga-like lamp called the *Babele Lamp* that is created using a [central column of light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cube-one-table) and [sliding wooden slats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flatpack-timber-lamp). The center pole is illuminated and requires the included slats to be slide onto in whatever formate desired. Perhaps one day a standard desk lamp is preferred, while another day brings about a preference for a more post-modern design. Manifattura Italiana Design is renowned for complexing creations that strike a cord with design junkies and the Babele Lamp is no short of fascinating. [Lighting solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-lamp) are often quite utilitarian and only require a bulb before being able to operate. This design calls the user into action by requiring that assembly be done prior to usage; what better way to encourage modifications and create custom-tailored products? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 55% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Customizable Lighting Solutions:** The Babele Lamp encourages modifications and custom-tailored products by requiring assembly prior to usage. - **Engaging User Experience:** The interactive design of the Babele Lamp creates a unique and engaging user experience. - **Intricate Design Elements:** The sliding wooden slats of the Babele Lamp add a visually appealing and intricate design element. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** The customizable and visually appealing design of the Babele Lamp makes it a great fit for the interior design industry. - **Home Decor:** The engaging user experience and unique design of the Babele Lamp makes it a disruptive innovation opportunity in the home decor industry. - **Lighting Products:** The intricate design and customizable nature of the Babele Lamp presents a disruptive innovation opportunity in the lighting products industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Traditional Tower-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pagoda-lamp.md) - [Foldable Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-folding-lamp.md) - [Artistic Magnetic Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scacco-matto-lamp.md) - [Playful Brick-Born Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/analog-lamps-1.md) - [Flatpack Lighting Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allen-key-lamp.md) - [Stackable Modular Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/module-table-lamp.md) - [Infinitely Expandable Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cube-one-table-lamp.md) - [Modular Brick Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brick-light.md) - [Shape-Shifting Modular Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moodi.md)
