# Real-Time Metropolis Timelapses Patrick Vale's Jazz-Infused Manhattan Skyline Video By Shelby Lee Walsh | Published 2012-08-31 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manhattan-skyline-video References: [vimeo](http://vimeo.com/42635813) & [http](http://http//patrickvale.co.uk/) A lover of the big [Apple](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/i-made-a-mixtape-for-you) and a talented illustrator, Patrick Vale is sure to be a favorite among NYC residents with his real-time [Manhattan skyline](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skyline-carpet) video. Drawn from the perspective of sitting atop the Empire State Building (one of the world's most iconic and recognizable pieces of architecture), Vale's piece is chock full of detail and it's all caught on film. The [timelapse video](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timelapse-content) shows the project from beginning to completion, which took several days. Punctuating the marker strokes is the song "Moanin'" by Charles Mingus. The tune seemingly harkens back to the good ol' roaring twenties where Manhattan was full of beat poets, jazz joints and illegal liquor. Partrick Vale captures the architecture and essence of the world's most talked about city in less than two minutes -- not a small feat. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 86% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Real-time Timelapses:** Real-time timelapse videos capturing the progression of various projects, providing a unique perspective and engaging visual experience. - **City Skylines:** Artistic representations of city skylines, showcasing the beauty and architectural landmarks of urban environments. - **Jazz-inspired Art:** Artworks that incorporate jazz music and culture, creating a fusion of visual and auditory experiences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture and Construction:** Opportunity to incorporate real-time timelapse technology in showcasing architectural projects and construction processes. - **Tourism and Travel:** Utilizing artistic representations of city skylines to attract tourists and promote travel destinations. - **Art and Entertainment:** Collaborations between artists and musicians to create captivating visual and auditory experiences through jazz-inspired art. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Miniature Artful Hip-Hop Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/danny-cortes.md) - [Laser-Cut Urban Artistry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-cut-city-maps.md) - [Optical Illusion Replica Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liberty-science-center.md) - [Big Apple Toy Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/machi-town-new-york.md) - [Eclipse-Themed Rooftop Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-zero.md) - [Process Visualization Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/velocity-lapse.md) - [Exquisite Time Lapse Candles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xl-porcelain-candles.md) - [New York-Themed Whiskeys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/distil-your-world-series.md) - [High Wire City Stunts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philippe-petit.md)
