# Disguised Shoebox Strongboxes The 'Mandem Safe' Protects Valuables While Looking Like a Nike Box By Joey Haar | Published 2016-07-27 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mandem-safe References: [gizmodo](http://gizmodo.com/this-nike-shoebox-is-actually-a-secret-safe-1784311281) & [themandemsafe](http://www.themandemsafe.com/) Most people go to Foot Locker to get their Nikes, but the Mandem Safe is flipping the equation by turning people's Nikes into footlockers. The strongbox concept is a safe that's covered in the iconic orange cardboard of a [Nike](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nike-cardholder) shoebox, allowing frequent Nike wearers to [keep their valuables secure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/physical-vault) while hiding them in plain sight. Though covered in cardboard, the Mandem Safe's inner walls are made of incredibly strong five-millimeter folded steel. The safe also comes with pre-drilled holes in its base, allowing consumers to secure the Mandem Safe directly to the floor and prevent thieves from simply picking up the entire box and making a run for it. The box's disguise is completely genuine as well, replete with size 10.5 Air Max label, the Nike Swoosh, and the "Just Do It" slogan. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.8/10 - Popularity: 98% | Activity: 98% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Disguised Security Solutions:** The Mandem Safe showcases the trend of creating security products that blend seamlessly into everyday objects. - **Stealthy Storage Solutions:** The concept of hiding valuable items in plain sight is a growing trend, as demonstrated by the Mandem Safe. - **Creative Safe Designs:** Innovative safe designs like the Mandem Safe are on the rise, offering consumers unique and stylish ways to secure their belongings. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Security Systems:** The disguise aspect of the Mandem Safe presents a disruptive innovation opportunity for security system manufacturers to create more inconspicuous and integrated solutions. - **Home Storage:** The Mandem Safe's concept of transforming everyday objects into secure storage options highlights the potential for disruption in the home storage industry. - **Fashion Accessories:** By incorporating fashion branding into the design, the Mandem Safe opens up possibilities for disruptive innovation in the fashion accessories industry by combining style and security. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Packaging-Inspired Footwear Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/box-shoe.md) - [Lockable Pizza Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lockable-pizza-boxes.md) - [Dedicated Residential Delivery Doors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/parcel-safe.md) - [Connected Package Delivery Safes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doorbox-smart-delivery-box.md) - [Smart Lock Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robern-iq-digital-lock-box.md) - [Sneaker-Resembling Leather Wallets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nike-cardholder.md) - [Shape-Preserving Shoe Guards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crep-protect-3.md) - [Durable Urbanite Shoe Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nike-c1ty-surplus.md) - [Sneaker-Inspired Phone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-kick-case.md)
