Rather than demonstrating his technical flair, Abdoun has instead chosen to convey subjects using the most basic of [geometric shapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illusion-box). It’s amazing how Abdoun can make an equilateral triangle into a grimacing smile or use a perfect circle to denote legs and a torso. This self-imposed restriction demonstrates his creativity more so than other illustrators, who have limitless amounts of techniques at their disposal. Mahmoud Abdoun’s collection also features the characters Penguin, Joker, Catwoman and Zelda. It’s impressive to see how he varies his minimalist approach in rendering these [geek culture staples](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thrilljoy-pix). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 20% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Geometric Fan Art:** Using basic shapes to create minimalist fan art is a rising trend in pop culture. - **Restrictive Creativity:** Limiting techniques and mediums to stimulate creativity is increasingly popular for artists and designers. - **Stylized Characters:** Stylizing pop culture characters is a popular way to offer unique interpretations of familiar themes. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers can find opportunity in exploring unique ways to stylize pop culture characters, like using basic shapes to create minimalist fan art. - **Fan Merchandise:** Companies selling fan merchandise can capitalize on the trend of unique interpretations of familiar themes by partnering with artists who offer alternative designs. - **Advertising and Marketing:** Ad agencies and marketers can incorporate the trend of using restrictive creativity in their campaigns to demonstrate unique and innovative thinking. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Geometric Wooden Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aleph-geddis.md) - [Reimagined Puzzled Artful Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portrait-of-a-woman-in-a-hat.md) - [Pop Art-Style Blocked Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-in-red.md) - [Superhero-Themed DIY Art Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jim-lee-batman.md) - [Artistic Game-Inspired Figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/louis-de-guzman-1.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md) - [Collectible Character Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arr-x-kaws-sesame-street.md) - [Video Game-Themed Pixel Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pixel-art-collection.md) - [Pop Art Legend-Honoring Dolls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/keiichi-tanaami-1.md)
