For one thing, the piece is remarkably unique, and for another, its various components are even distinctive from each other. Made by Hella Jongerius for [Vitra](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anagram-sofa), the contemporary chesterfield references the Dutch landscape. It's low to the floor and quite long, alluding to the polders of the Netherlands. A [collection of cushions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pillow-sofa) in a range of different sizes and dimensions appear to mimic the many agricultural fields that abut each other in rural regions. Six individual textiles upholster the pillows and padding of the Maharam Polder Sofa with warm brown fabrics that are accented with orange plaids, floral motifs and more traditional patterns. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Multifarious Design:** Opportunity for companies to create unique and distinctive design pieces that cater to diverse consumer tastes. - **Referencing Local Landscapes:** Opportunity to incorporate elements of local landscapes into furniture design, creating a connection with the surrounding environment. - **Eclectic Upholstery:** Opportunity to experiment with a combination of different textiles and patterns, creating visually intriguing furniture pieces. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity for furniture designers to explore new and unique design concepts that cater to diverse consumer preferences. - **Textile Manufacturing:** Opportunity for textile manufacturers to create a wide range of fabrics that can be used in unique upholstery designs. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for companies in the home decor industry to offer distinctive and eye-catching furniture pieces that stand out in the market. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Enveloping Sofa Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron-pillo.md) - [Oblong Color-Blocked Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meritalia-morphologica-collection.md) - [Cloud-Like Modular Sofa Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pillo-sofa.md) - [Curvaceous Modular Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blocks-modular-sofa.md) - [Modular Triangular Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moooi-peaks-sofa.md) - [Contemporary Upholstered Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-upholstered-seating.md) - [Rippled Modular Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puffa-furniture.md) - [Voluptuous Texture Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bretz-balaao.md) - [Voluptuous Modern Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reimagined-everyday-sofa.md)
