# Artificial Dune Pools Madderlake Designs Creates a Pool That Blends into Nature By Tiana Reid | Published 2010-08-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/madderlake-designs References: [tmagazine.blogs.nytimes](http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/28/summer-pleasures-a-pool-among-the-dunes/) & [madderlakedesigns](http://madderlakedesigns.com/newmd/) Madderlake Designs has created a breathtaking pool that fuses an [artificial pool](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waltham-forest-college) with [dune-like shapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-rug). Located on the Long Island, the elegant pool was made for Judy and Ted Goldsmith. The designs use [dunes, grasses and rosa rusoga flowers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blue-water-lily) to create a landscape that connects with the blissful nature around it. Homeowner Judy Goldsmith is both a gardener and a flower arranger, so her ideas played a role in Madderlake Designs' plans. **Implications** - With this kind of talent clearly being present with both gardening and flower arranging, there is no denying that Judy Goldsmith is talented. I would love to spend time in an artificial dune pool that looks as cool as this one! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 88% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Artificial Recreation Spaces:** Creating artificial pools that blend seamlessly into natural landscapes offers a unique and immersive recreational experience. - **Nature-inspired Landscaping:** Incorporating dune-like shapes, grasses, and flowers in design projects creates a harmonious connection with nature. - **Personalized Pool Designs:** Involving homeowners' interests and talents in pool design results in truly unique and customized spaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Hospitality:** Hotels and resorts can create artificial pools that seamlessly blend with their natural surroundings, attracting guests seeking a tranquil and immersive experience. - **Landscape Architecture:** Landscape architects can incorporate dune-like shapes, grasses, and flowers into their designs to create visually stunning outdoor spaces that connect with nature. - **Residential Pool Construction:** By involving homeowners' interests and talents, pool construction companies can create personalized and one-of-a-kind pool designs that reflect the homeowners' unique style and preferences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Nature-Inspired Poolside Homestay](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miyue-blue-and-white-island-pool-homestay.md) - [Garden-Surrounded Pool House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geometric-pool-house.md) - [Unobstructive Hidden Pool Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knox-bhavan.md) - [Customizable Tanning Pools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inflatable-tanning-pool.md) - [Skylight-Topped English Pool Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/malvern-pool-house.md) - [AI Swimming Pool Visualizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pool-planner-ai.md) - [Desert Dune-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nando-studio.md) - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Urban Portugal Swimming Pools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-pool.md)
