Their latest video for the song 'Same Love' is a video about [marriage equality](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wicked-fabulous) and how we should really be taking another look at how we act towards [same sex marriage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/worn-with-pride). The video follows the life of young black boy who is gay and is struggling to fit in. He stands alone at a school dance and his parents disapprove. Later in the video, that same boy befriends a man, and the two of them are looked down upon by society and their families. The video has a happy ending, however, and the lyrics that Macklemore & Ryan Lewis speak to small but powerful problems, like how the word "gay" gets thrown around carelessly. This is a great video that highlights a positive message. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.3/10 - Popularity: 1% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Celebs](https://www.trendhunter.com/celebs) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Marriage Equality Advocacy:** Opportunity to create innovative campaigns and content that support and promote marriage equality. - **LGBTQ+ Representation in Media:** Opportunity to incorporate diverse LGBTQ+ characters and stories to promote inclusivity in the media. - **Social Activism Through Music:** Opportunity to use music as a platform for social change and activism. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in creating inclusive content and platforms that support marriage equality. - **Advertising:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in creating compelling advertisements that champion LGBTQ+ rights and diversity. - **Music:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in using music as a tool for social activism and promoting positive social change. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Inclusive Healthcare Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/get-real.md) - [Star-Studded Pride Month Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2022-pride-campaign.md) - [Celebrity Pride Partnerships](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/happy-hippie-partnership.md) - [Pride Month T-Shirt Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amnesty-international-canada.md) - [LGBTQ Artist Candy Packs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skittles-pride.md) - [Gender-Based Violence Awareness Films](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/my-friend-max-hate.md) - [LGBTQ+ Wedding Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skyy-says-i-do.md) - [Police Filming Awareness Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/get-real-movement.md) - [Empowering Short Films](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/no-decision-without-us.md)
