# Laptop Privacy Screens StarTech.com MacBook Pro Filter With Double-Sided Gold Finish By Colin Smith | Written with AI assistance | Published 2026-03-05 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macbook-pro-filter References: [zdnet](https://www.zdnet.com/article/startech-macbook-pro-privacy-screen-review/) StarTech.com introduced a privacy screen for the 14- and 16-inch [MacBook Pro](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monduo-16-pro-duo) designed to limit side visibility, featuring microlouver technology that blocks views beyond a 60-degree angle. The kit included residue-free adhesive strips and a microfiber cloth, and the precision-cut filter accommodated the laptop's camera and sensors. The gold-tinted finish reflects light off-angle while the matte side reduces glare and resists fingerprints. According to specs, the filter transmits about 60% of light, blocks up to 51% of blue light and mounted without affecting lid closure. For commuters and open-plan workers, the screen offers discreet protection against [casual shoulder-snooping](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blur-it-50) with minimal workflow disruption. It slightly alters brightness and color, so it's best for email, documents and spreadsheets rather than color-critical editing tasks.
