Since the entire back of an [Apple](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apple-clear-series) laptop is lit, taking away parts of the plastic shell will result in light showing through. 'UNCOVER' has leveraged this feature to create some masterful designs that integrate the lit-up apple logo. Using laser etching, pieces of the MacBook are cut away to reveal designs that pay homage to artworks like 'The Son of Man' or something as simple as an apple tree. Other designs featured by 'UNCOVER' include aboriginal women and cute pandas. These designs are a beautiful play on the [conventional laptop decal](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/custom-device-skins). Instead of adding material to the back of laptops to customize them, 'UNCOVER' is taking material away. The resulting glowing designs are more fascinating than any sticker could be. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Backlit Art:** The trend for producing intricate and glowing designs into laptops using laser etching and backlighting and playing with material reduction and negative space. - **Custom Laptop Designs:** People are looking for unique ways to design their laptop giving them the ability for personal brand identity. - **Laptop Customization:** The trend of unique ways to customize laptops with people getting more creative in displaying their personality and style. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Laptop Manufacturing:** Companies like Apple, Microsoft, HP and Dell can collaborate with design companies to offer customers more personalization options on laptops, enhancing user experience. - **Accessories:** Companies producing laptop sleeves or skins can create complementary products that enhance the glowing designs of laptops and allow even more personalization and expression. - **Art Design:** Design firms that offer customization services can leverage the trend of backlit art and cater to clients looking to express their creativity by bringing their artwork to life on a laptop. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glow-in-the-Dark Device Skins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ddbrand-circuit-board.md) - [Glow‑In‑Dark Tech Skins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/circuit-board-device.md) - [Easily Customizable Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lenovos-new-laptop.md) - [Glow-in-the-Dark Device Skins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dbrand-circuit-board.md) - [Transparency-Focused Laptop Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nothing-book-1-concept.md) - [Chromatic Customizable Display Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lenovo-thinkbook-13x-gen-4-spe.md) - [Immersive All-Screen Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macbook-folio.md) - [Shock-Absorbing Laptop Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casetify-5.md) - [Structurally Artful Laptop Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yohann.md)
