# MacBook Air Sleeve Fleece-Lined Envelope By Bianca | Published 2008-01-17 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macbook-air-sleeve-manila-folder References: [engadget](http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/17/airmail-the-manila-folder-macbook-air-sleeve-gets-real/) Drooling over Apple's uber-buzzed [MacBook Air](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macbook-air)? As will all hot new products, accessories and add-on never take long to follow. At CES, Steve Jobs pulled the Air out of a manila envelope for its world debut. Who knew his humorous little act would actually inspire a design duo to create a sleeve for the world's skinniest notebook to date? The sleeve was created by Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans. It actually looks like a basic paper folder with a string and circular nob to wrap it around. A plain, paper envelope. Of course, it's not just made of paper; it still has to offer protective functions. "This sleeve is handmade from 'durable upholstery-grade vinyl and lined with fuzzy, soft fleece,' which should protect your forthcoming MBA from all but the nastiest of bumps," Engadget said. "Supposedly, you can pre-order one now for $29.95 and expect it to arrive right alongside your new micro-rig, but if these truly are handmade, we'd go ahead and expect a backlog." I'm sure this will just be one of many [MacBook Air Sleeves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portland-gear-laptop-sleeve) we'll see hitting the market soon. Designers need to keep in mind though that reason people would want a notebook this skinny would be for its slender attributes. Adding a bulky case may protect it, but it would defeat the purpose of the aesthetics. This calls for creativity! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 44% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Macbook Air Accessories:** Opportunity to create innovative and slim accessories that enhance the functionality and aesthetics of the MacBook Air. - **Minimalist Device Protection:** Opportunity to design sleek and minimalistic protective sleeves and cases for ultra-thin devices, combining both style and functionality. - **Handmade Tech Accessories:** Opportunity to tap into the handmade market by creating unique and artisanal tech accessories, catering to consumers looking for personalized and one-of-a-kind products. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Consumer Electronics:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in creating innovative and stylish accessories for thin and lightweight laptops, like the MacBook Air. - **Fashion and Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the fashion industry by designing protective sleeves and cases that complement the style and aesthetics of ultra-thin devices. - **Handmade and Artisanal Products:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the handmade and artisanal market by creating handmade tech accessories that combine functionality and creativity. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Impact-Resistant Laptop Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impactresistant-laptop-case.md) - [Shock-Absorbing Laptop Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casetify-5.md) - [Dual-Material Laptop Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hardgraft-5050-macbook-pro-sleeve.md) - [Ultra-Slim Laptop Sleeves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultraslim-laptop-sleeve.md) - [Luxury Laptop Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mujjo-envoy.md) - [Fray-Free Fabric Laptop Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fabric-laptop-case.md) - [Featherlight Ultra-Thin Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macbook.md) - [Heat-Disbursing Laptop Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heatdisbursing-laptop-case.md) - [Multifunctional Slim Laptop Sleeves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nexa.md)
