# Computer Container Couches The Mac Box Furniture is Comfortably Eco-Friendly By Meghan Young | Published 2011-08-06 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mac-box-furniture References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2011/08/04/mac-box-furniture/) As much as technology can make our lives significantly easier, sometimes the packaging that it comes ends up inconveniencing our lives and the world we live in even more -- unless, of course, you decided to build some Mac Box Furniture. In that case, the technology and its packaging will make your life easier, more eco-friendly and economically efficient. Granted, o make couches and armchairs the size of these Mac Box Furniture pieces, you would have to spend about $12,000 (if you purchased the computers that once resided in them as well). Created by Nick McBride and colleagues from Juniata College, the Mac Box Furniture can seat about two to three people. To hold the weight, they kept the internal foam pieces to reinforce the seating. There are even built-in cup holders. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 21% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Eco-friendly Furniture:** Mac Box Furniture showcases the trend of repurposing computer packaging materials for creating eco-friendly furniture. - **Sustainable Packaging:** Efforts to reduce packaging waste in the tech industry could lead to more sustainable packaging materials and furniture designs. - **Circular Economy:** Mac Box Furniture represents a shift towards a circular economy where waste materials are repurposed for useful products. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** The furniture industry has an opportunity to adopt innovative sustainable designs, such as Mac Box Furniture, to appeal to eco-conscious consumers. - **Tech:** Tech companies can explore sustainable packaging solutions to reduce environmental impact and support circular economy initiatives. - **Waste Management:** The waste management industry can potentially provide solutions for repurposing packaging materials from the tech industry into value-added products such as furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Computer-Supported Artful Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mac-pro-bench.md) - [Upcycled Waste Material Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-furniture-design.md) - [Cardboard Box-Transformed Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/box-exhibition.md) - [Cardboard Box Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karton-furniture-collection.md) - [Modular Eco-Sourced Cozy Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-transformer-couch.md) - [Repurposed Vintage Apple Computers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repurposed-vintage-apple-computers.md) - [Stackable Flat-Pack Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-collection-1.md) - [Recycled Shoe-Made Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/remix-maison.md) - [Versatile Modular Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transformer-couch-20.md)
