The building will be the tallest in the city, contributing to Mississauga's status as the sixth largest city in Canada. The new M City building features a daring design, with flush balconies that gently cant from one another inward and outward as the building rises. The optical result is one of a rectangular helix, reminiscent of the famous shape in genetics. Surprisingly, Mississauga has become an international darling for bold architectural designs. Thanks to the M City plan, the suburb's latest building will join the much lauded 'Marilyn' towers, nicknamed such because of their curvy design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Bold Architectural Designs:** The daring and innovative designs of buildings in Mississauga, like the M City tower, are pushing the boundaries of architectural creativity. - **Residential Skyscrapers:** The construction of tall residential buildings, such as the M City tower, is becoming increasingly popular in urban areas to accommodate population growth. - **Optical Illusion Architecture:** Architects are incorporating unique visual effects, like the helical design of the M City tower, to create buildings that capture attention and stand out in the skyline. ### Who This Affects Most - **Construction and Real Estate:** The construction and real estate industries are experiencing growth due to the demand for innovative and visually striking buildings, such as the M City tower. - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers are embracing unconventional and visually captivating designs, like the helical condo tower in Mississauga, to create unique and iconic structures. - **Urban Planning and Development:** Urban planners and developers are focused on creating cohesive master plans, like M City, that incorporate bold architectural designs to revitalize and attract attention to urban areas. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Feminine Silhouette Tall Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/telus-sky-tower.md) - [Twisted Concrete Tower Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alta-tower.md) - [Community Sports Park Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/churchill-meadows.md) - [Rurally-Inspired City Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ziel-highrise-building.md) - [Eco-Conscious Slim Skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muraba-veil.md) - [Large Passive House Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harmony-commons.md) - [Metal Mesh Residential Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cit-angus-ii.md) - [Nightlife Nestled Tower Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mercury-tower.md) - [Diamond-Inspired Luxe Skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-miami.md)
