# Bucolic Luxury Appartments Piet Boon Brought the Country to Park Avenue By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2014-10-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-apartments References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2014/10/06/piet-boon-huys-luxury-apartments-dutch-design-new-york/) & [pietboon](http://www.pietboon.com/) Dutch designer Piet Boon renovated a former office building on Park Avenue into a series of luxury apartments. The structure was in such a state that it demanded a complete overhaul, prompting the architects to tear down the facade and begin anew. The metropolitan location didn't stop the designer from implementing a home country aesthetic for the interior. To ensure a consistent flow of natural light, the architects replaced the small windows at the front of the building with [floor-to-ceiling glazing framed with dark steel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glassbrick-apartment). Each of the open-plan apartments feature a [neutral color palette](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oldnew), which is further offset by the [white oak floor planking](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dinesen-apartment). The simplicity and symmetry throughout is very reflective of the Dutch design aesthetic. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.1/10 - Popularity: 91% | Activity: 84% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Luxury Apartment Renovations:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the luxury apartment industry by transforming outdated buildings into high-end living spaces. - **Country-inspired Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the interior design industry by creating a home country aesthetic in urban settings. - **Natural Light Maximization:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the architecture industry by incorporating floor-to-ceiling glazing to ensure a consistent flow of natural light in buildings. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Luxury Apartment:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the luxury apartment industry by focusing on open-plan layouts and a neutral color palette. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the interior design industry by implementing country-inspired aesthetics in urban spaces. - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the architecture industry by prioritizing the use of floor-to-ceiling glazing to maximize natural light in buildings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Urban Skyline-View Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apartment-with-a-view.md) - [European-Inspired Urban Lofts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ghislaine-via.md) - [Colorfully Transformed Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slatuinenweg.md) - [Modern Panoramic View Penthouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panorama-penthouse.md) - [Mid-Century Flat Revamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/warsaw-apartment-renovation.md) - [NYC Apartment Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brooklyn-loft.md) - [Afromosia Wood-Defined Dutch Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dab-studio.md) - [Classically Juxtaposing Pied-à-Terres](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lichelle-silvestry.md) - [High-Rise Design Renos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/watergate-piedterre.md)
