# Streaky Sleeper Paintings Luis Teixeira Depicts Subjects Slumbering with Unique Rendering Style By Jason Soy | Published 2012-06-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luis-teixeira References: [winterteeth.tumblr](http://winterteeth.tumblr.com/post/24764415742) & [visualkontakt](http://www.visualkontakt.com/2011/09/paintings-luis-teixeira.html) People often don’t like seeing pictures of themselves while they’re asleep, but I’m sure most will make an exception if Luis Teixeira is involved. Seen here are his [surreal paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1) of people deeply immersed in slumber. Teixeira captures subjects of all ages from complex angles to deliver dynamic perspectives, and that isn’t even the most impressive thing about this stellar [sleep-inspired series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikea-sleep-talk). Viewers will no doubt notice Luis Teixeira’s abstract rendering style that looks as though watercolors seemingly got out of hand and started bleeding into sections they don't belong in, producing a splotchy and streaky effect. The [watercolors overlap](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-flow) one another so much in fact that, from a distance, you may mistake Teixeira’s work as a garbled mess. Being able to control such a chaotic painting style to produce realistic depictions speaks volumes of Teixeira’s true talent. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Surreal Sleep Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new ways to depict sleep and dreams through unconventional artistic styles and mediums. - **Dynamic Perspective Portraits:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Experiment with capturing subjects from unique angles to create visually engaging and immersive portraits. - **Abstract Watercolor Techniques:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Utilize watercolor techniques to create unconventional and visually striking artwork that challenges traditional perceptions. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce innovative techniques and styles that push the boundaries of traditional art and design. - **Home Decor and Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate surreal sleep art into home decor products, offering unique and eye-catching pieces for interior design. - **Psychology and Therapy:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the therapeutic benefits of engaging with surreal sleep art as a form of relaxation and introspection. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Art-Inspired Streetwear Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silent-echoes.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Human Duality-Themed Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passive-aggression.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [Travel-Inspired Canvas Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-passport-series.md) - [Bold Patterned Bedding Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artist-series-collection.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Starry Multi-Layer Mattresses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starry-night-hybrid-mattress.md)
