The 'AirBolt' is an app-connected lock that be wirelessly locked and unlocked with the use of a smartphone. When the baggage the lock is attached to leaves a certain proximity zone, the app sends alerts to the owner's smartphone, preventing them from forgetting it or getting it taken from under their nose. The designers even came up with a back-up plan in case a phone is lost or stolen while travelling. In this case, the owner can access the companion app from another compatible phone or else there is a back-up button combination that can be pre-programmed in the lock. This luggage lock is especially great for those who are forgetful, as it doesn't require any key or combination code. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 70% | Activity: 82% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Smart Travel Accessories:** The trend of smart luggage locks will lead to more innovative and connected travel accessories. - **App-connected Devices:** Smart luggage locks are a subset of the larger trend of app-connected devices that simplify everyday tasks and enhance convenience for users. - **Proximity Alerts Technology:** The development of proximity alert technology in this smart luggage lock can inspire new applications in other devices. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Travel and Luggage:** The travel industry can incorporate smart luggage locks and other connected devices into their product offerings for added convenience and security for customers. - **Smart Home Technology:** The smart home industry can explore opportunities to incorporate the proximity alert technology used in this luggage lock into other home devices for added security. - **Mobile App Development:** The mobile app development industry can create customized apps for smart luggage locks, as well as other app-connected devices, for enhanced user experience and better control. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Trackable Smart Luggage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casesafe.md) - [Discreet Trackable Suitcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qantas-x-july.md) - [Connected Luggage Tags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knog-scout-travel.md) - [Tech-Equipped Suitcase Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oogo-smart-luggage.md) - [Real-Time Monitoring Bike Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elios-crossover-lock.md) - [Trackable Travel Luggage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tag-smart-collection-by-samsara.md) - [Luggage Tracking Safety Technologies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lost-luggage-tracker.md) - [Pocket-Sized Safety Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaze.md) - [Next-Level Digital Lock Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/proximkey.md)
